In vitro fertilisation (IVF) or Test Tube Baby is one of the key treatment for infertility using Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). The Invitro fertilisation (IVF) is a process by which an egg is fertilized by sperm outside the body in a lab environment.
The process requires observing a woman’s ovulatory process, taking away ovum from the woman’s ovaries and allowing sperm fertilize them in a fluid medium in a lab. The fertilized egg which is also called zygote is then moved into the patient’s uterus to initiate a successful pregnancy.
For IVF to be successful it needs healthy ova, sperm that can fertilize, and a uterus that can support a pregnancy.
